The holiday of tourists and tourism lovers!
There is such a saying in Azerbaijan – "Who lives sees, but who travels sees more".
I wonder if this is really true?! The research implemented shows that as the places visited by a person are captured in visual memory, they always remain in form of fresh and vivid memories. Every time this topic comes up, there is a revival in front of the eyes.
Of course, enlightenment comes with reading and a person simply imagines everything he learns about a place. However, more travels, viewing the most interesting places, oceans, seas, cities, museums and historical monuments around the world live shall forever remain in your memory. Therefore, the travel leaves more traces in a life of a person. That is why the tourism is one of the most popular and favourite fields of activity.
The first tourists in the world are considered to be the travellers who went on trips in the hope of finding oceans, seas, and new lands. Over time, the integration of the people from one place to another, with subsequent returns, gradually led to the spread of the tourism. The first travel agency in the world was opened by Thomas Cook in 1841. And the first tourism organization was formed in Geneva in 1925. This tourism organization, functioning under different names, was recognized as the World Tourism Organization on September 27, 1970. The organization, the headquarters of which had moved to Madrid, declared "September 27 – World Tourism Day" 9 years later, in 1979. Since then, in all the countries of the world, September 27 has been celebrated as a holiday of the representatives of historical tourism. I.e., this day is considered to be the holiday for tourism workers and tourism lovers.
In Azerbaijan, the World Tourism Day has been celebrated since 2001, when Azerbaijan became a member of the World Tourism Organization. In Azerbaijan with rich historical and cultural heritage and favourable natural conditions, the tourism sector is rapidly developing. In accordance with the Decree signed by the President Ilham Aliyev on September 1, 2016, the World Tourism Day is celebrated in our country also as the “Tourism Workers Day”. This day, i.e. September 27 opened new page in the history of Azerbaijan in 2020. This day is considered to be the day of the beginning of the path to our Glorious Victory, as well the Day of Remembrance of our glorious heroes, who at the cost of their lives conquered our lands and became martyrs “for the Motherland”.
That is why, this date, which has been celebrated in the domestic tourism market against the background of special events for many years, has somewhat changed its place in local calendar since 2020. Today the plan of the events associated with this date continues its mission in the last week of September every year. Many travel companies are also particularly sensitive to the presence of the war veterans and their families as a part of this event plan. In general, consistent and targeted measures taken at the state level related to the transformation of the tourism into leading sector of the economy in recent years have positive impact on the development of the tourism. Based on all this, we can say that it is necessary to read and travel as much as possible. If you read and travel a lot, you shall get the best practice in the world. The places you visit shall make you completely different person.
