Ancient Balakhani - a new tourist route in a modern look

Balakhani, located northwest of the capital Baku, is an ancient settlement rich in historical and cultural monuments. The first oil wells of Baku were drilled in this settlement.
Until the oil boom of the early 20th century, Balakhani had a strategic position as it was located on the Great Silk Road. This place was one of the main points of the caravan route stretching from China to Spain for many centuries. There are many historical monuments in Balakhani dating back to the Shirvanshahs and Safavids.

Large-scale renovation works in the Balakhani settlement, which began in 2018, were completed in 2020. Now this settlement attracts everyone with its new look. The settlement is distinguished by its unique architecture - ancient monuments, tasteful buildings, and narrow streets.
It should be noted that as a result of the renovation work carried out, Balakhani has already been approved as a new tourism route.
