Axar-Baxar and Ilisu

Two new National Parks are being created in Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on this. According to the document, Axar-Bakhar and Ilisu national parks will be created in our country.
The document signed by the head of state noted that the Axar-Baxar National Park will be created on an area of 23,901.99 hectares, with 11,113.46 hectares allocated from the state reserve fund lands of the Samukh district, 7,000.10 hectares from the state reserve fund lands of the Yevlakh district, and 5,788.43 hectares from the state reserve fund lands of the Gakh district.
According to the decree, Ilisu National Park will be created on an area of 13,966 hectares, with 206.74 hectares allocated from the state reserve fund lands of the Zagatala district and 13,759.26 hectares from the state reserve fund lands of the Gakh district.
The order states that the purpose of establishing national parks is to expand the network of specially protected natural areas, preserve biodiversity, ensure sustainable environmental management, increase socio-economic opportunities, integrate local communities into environmental initiatives, and ensure the development of ecotourism in the regions.
