The world's first tanker museum was created in Baku

Probably, many people are not aware that there is a tanker museum in Baku.
So let us give you more detailed information about this.
On March 1, 2021, the “Surakhani” tanker museum was opened. The opening of this museum, which was created for the first time in the world, was attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. Modern technological equipment was used in the halls of the museum. Here, it is possible to get acquainted with the history of the Caspian Sea, oil production in Absheron, the development of shipping, ships considered among the first in the world, sea giants, navigation instruments, sea knots with a history of nearly 5 thousand years, and equipment used during the operation of ships.

The "Surakhani" tanker museum is a project created in order to preserve maritime traditions, research and preserve its history, along with the development of shipping. The selection of the "Surakhani" tanker as a museum is also due to the fact that it was one of the largest and most modern tankers of its time. The experience of countries such as Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Turkey was used to transform it into a museum. In order for the tanker museum to meet international standards, cooperation was established with more than 100 reputable foreign and local companies. Thus, this project was completed as a result of the activities of more than 2 thousand local ship repairmen.
