Shamakhi, an ancient and beautiful region of Azerbaijan, attracts attention not only with its historical monuments and nature, but also with its unique places. One of these places is the only Alpaca farm in our country. The homeland of alpacas is distant South America. They were domesticated in Peru centuries ago. Alpaca wool is antiallergenic and waterproof, it is one of the most expensive types of wool in the world.
Nowadays, you don’t need to travel thousands of kilometers to see these friendly animals – you can get to know them up close on a farm in the Meysari village of Shamakhi.
Alpacas, which are distinguished by their calmness, do not bite people, gladly accept food from guests, and even allow you to pet and hug them.
These animals live for about 25 years and need special care to stay healthy. Since the climate of Shamakhi is very similar to the mountainous region of Peru, alpacas have not had any difficulties in adapting here.
Interest in the alpaca farm is growing day by day. Tourists come here not only from Azerbaijan, but also from foreign countries. Guests spend 45–60 minutes with the alpacas. The guide gives them information about the alpacas. Then the guests feed the animals, take pictures with them, and leave with positive energy. Such places contribute greatly to the country's tourism.
