From May 1, an electronic arrival card will become mandatory for tourists in Thailand.
From May 1, all tourists arriving in Thailand must complete an electronic arrival card before entering the country.
The Electronic Arrival Card is a digital platform to simplify the entry procedure into the country.
The website to apply for the e-card is already live, but Thailand will make it mandatory from May 1. Whether they enter the country by air, land or sea, travellers will need to register online three days before arrival, providing personal and travel information such as passport details and residential addresses.
The card replaces the traditional paper arrival form TM6. The aim is to speed up the immigration process and improve data collection. The use of TM6 immigration forms was discontinued on April 15 last year.
The initiative is part of Thailand's plan to promote itself as a "smart tourism destination" and provide a more efficient experience for foreigners.
